The Irrometer tensiometer is the standard for accurate soil moisture measurement. It offers farmers an inexpensive and reliable way to measure soil moisture for irrigation planning. The Irrometer will measure the actual water tension in the soil, indicating the effort required by roots to extract water from the soil. Since the Irrometer is a true measure of soil water availability, the instrument is not affected by salinity and requires no field calibration.
When connected to a data collection module, the tensiometer enables farmers to obtain reliable soil moisture data to automate their irrigation process.

The Irrometer tensiometer is available in several models:
Irrometer's "SR" model is a standard one-piece construction for general use in row crops, trees and open fields.
Irrometer's "LT" or "Low Tension" model features a replaceable "Quick-Flo" tip. Designed for situations where voltages in excess of 30 centibars are rarely expected. Ideal for sandy, gravelly soils or containers with substrate that may be relatively dry at 10-15 centibars, or where rapid changes in soil moisture content need to be observed.
